PTB builds agile multi pallet truck for Vlaming Groep in Holland

Recently, PTB Special Products delivered a specially designed pallet truck to the Vlaming Group. This pallet truck was built to transport heavy pallets quickly and efficiently. With a relatively low insertion height and narrow forks, PTB has constructed a pallet truck with a respectable lifting capacity of 5000 kilograms. The machine needed to maneuver in tight spaces, so this pallet truck has a stand-sit chassis. Because the driver is positioned directly behind the forks or sits, the pallet truck has a minimal turning radius.

Specific design

The machine was designed and built at PTB Transport in Groningen based on the customer's requirements. The pallet truck must be able to transport transport containers with large steel rolls and is therefore equipped with long, narrow forks.

The insertion height was only allowed to be 90 mm: a nice challenge for the designers. With low height and narrow, long forks of 2350 mm, a lifting capacity of 5000 kilograms was skillfully realized with a load center of gravity of 1175 mm.

Small turning radius

In addition, the machine had to have a very short turning radius to maneuver in tight spaces. The Vlaming Group therefore chose a pallet truck with a combination chassis. In this configuration, the driver stands or sits directly behind the forks, where the motors and other technology are also integrated.

Ergonomics

This chassis is optimally designed from an ergonomic perspective. The machine has a foldable seat with two positions. Thus, the driver can decide to operate the machine standing or sitting depending on the situation.

Since pallet trucks often change direction, lateral steering has a significant advantage. The driver does not have to turn around when reversing.
