Vicente Torns is a Slovakian manufacturer of copper wire. The company was founded in 1925 and has years of experience in the development of copper and aluminum products. The company operates in various industries, including energy, automotive, construction, and infrastructure.
To move coils with an exceptional shape, the company needed a custom pallet truck, which was developed and produced by PTB Special Products.
We have designed a custom pallet truck with special forks for the transport and lifting of coils and copper wire. The coils are short, which is why Vicente Torns asked us to develop a machine with forks measuring only 800 mm.
The machine, with a capacity of 3.5 tons, can lift up to 280 mm, which is a relatively significant height for a pallet truck. Conventional machines with forks of only 800 mm leave little room for the lifting mechanism.
This fact, along with the desired lifting height of 280 mm, required an innovative approach from our engineers. By using innovative forks, couplings, and pressure pieces, we were able to achieve the large lifting motion of 280 mm.
The fork carriage has a U-shape, specifically designed for lifting various roll sizes. The machine is equipped with an additional feature on the mast that allows for three different lifting heights to be set.
Programmed lifting heights
The operator can program different lifting heights by activating sensors through various selection buttons. The sensors transmit the desired lifting heights to the dashboard. There, the operator can choose one of the programmed lifting heights. This feature allows the operator to easily position coils and wires at exactly the right height.
